BUSY FRIDAY

Another Bday.. another cake shopping. The Bday party is in Hawally and I arrived early at C&B, Janel was quite late that's why I just busy myself with my cam, the sales lady says its not allowed.. (damned policy) I got few shots anyway. When Janel arrived, we choosed "the cake" which for me was very hard since... I think all of them are yum yum! After choosing the ultimate one, we headed to a nearby dessert shop since were both hungry besides the party will not start immediately, we ordered a choco hazelnut latte then we went to the party.

Its Dariel's Bday. Actually its a surprise bday party which Joyce organized for him. First time to witness one and its actually cool.. though I dont want to have one since I dont like surprises. The party went well and its really fun. Janel leave early since he still have his duty at 8pm at the airport, I stayed for some time.
Julius did'nt come for some reason and we meet at the Avenues coz I need to shop for some stuffs since my fridge is empty, he's hungry so I joined him at the food court, incidentally some of our friends are also there so we joined them. Although I'm still full, but it will be boring if I just stare at them while they're all eating so I ordered a vanilla strawbery smoothie.. Oh God forgive me for I have sin....
After that Julius and I went to the grocery. Its almost 12 midnight and I thought that all the food and dinner and everything was finished but somebody called Julius..................... I SAID NOOOOOOOO!
Vince and Pearl also at the Avenues that night and they're having late dinner at CHILIS. Pearl called Julius and invited us........................ PLS NO! Hehe!
So to cut the story short we joined them. The couple offered us another meal, but I gladly declined, anyhow a cold ice tea wont hurt right?

Officially missing Salmiya

Kinda feeling sentimental here and I guess I really miss Salmiya.. Its been my home for more tha a year before I transfer here in- Farwaniya. Actually I really dont want to transfer but I guess I dont have a choice. First I did'nt find a transport who's willing to pick me up here in Salmiya and drop me at my work in Farwa and vice versa.. they dont want since I'm alone and also it will take most of their time. Second, I'm trying to cost cut lately so it will be a huge slash on my budget if I cut my taxi/transpo allowance.

Well its my second day here in Farwaniya and Im doing fine.. hope so! beside I love my new room. I'll post some pics next time.

Check some pics from Salmiya. Some pics are blurry since its kinda windy that night and my hand kinda shaky.

HAPPILY EVER AFTER

I checked my friendster this morning and saw Leah's profile on the updated list, its been a while since we exchange message so I'm curious what's new. Leah and Clifford, my college friends now resides in Texas. They had their vacation last month after three or four years in the U.S

They're both my classmates during college, that was 1996- our freshmen years. I remember we had a group then.. we're like eight or nine in the group and each one have their own partner. Its me and Elaine.. Anthony and Leah, Jaime and Cath so on.. Its very funny coz we did'nt get tired of each other.. from the first day to the end of the semester we're together. Our usual hang out then was at SM Centerpoint- there no SM Manila or Robinsons Ermita yet that time. We eat lunch together, study in the library together and hanged out in the University together.. we are like sticky gum that you cant separate.

For freshmen.. college is such a big thing, there's lot of uncertainties and expectations and I think its the reason why we bonded together like that. Back then, Leah and Cliff was not partners.. its Anthony and Leah. Anthony was our class president.. kinda know it all guy.. intelligent, smart and our prof's favorite. I really dont know what happened to both of them but probably its just a fling like what me and Elaine had (Elaine? thats another story.. shes completely crazy over me.. she's kinda stalker as in! Peace hehe! so after the first semester I broke-up with her, but guess what? story did'nt end there.. she just popped up wherever I go, she will wait until my class end and she knows all my scheds and my rooms.. oh God! But were friends now.. though she send silly messages sometimes)

During our 1st semester, Cliff never gave a single hint that he likes our friend Leah.. maybe because he dont want to offend our good old friend Anthony. Cliff is such a nice guy, silent but one of the coolest on our class, he's kinda chick magnet that time like me hehe! I remember another crazy girl like Elaine got a crush on him- her name is Marielle, shes kinda mean and she got followers of other mean girls.. other girls are intimidated with them. One time Marielle approach me and ask questions about Cliff.. what perfume he wear and what time is our break etc. She diligently wait outside the gym with her mean girls followers until we finish our sports class.. college is the best of course hehe!

I dont remember but I think its on our second year or third year in college that Leah and Cliff finally admit that they're a couple.. and till then until now.. they're still together. Happy ever after right? I'm really happy for you guys!

Cliff, Leah and cute Liam

Picture of a happy family.

College friends.. miss you guys! See you summer 2009

Grabe bilis ng panahon... prang kelan lang yun! No regrets though coz we had a great time but still I cant get enough of my college. Such a blast!

JOB HUNTING 101

Found this article this morning at MSN just wanna share it here.
If you're already frustrated and depressed coz you cannot find a job.. then this article is for you.

But sorry, I just cant stop myself from giving my own feedback on this topic.. coz I know alot of jobseekers out there dont pay particular attention on their application specially the newly grad, if you wanted to be taken seriously then guys please do your homework.. it doesnt mean that you already have your diploma means there's job for you somewhere. If you dont stand out from the crowd.. then your just among the countless faces.

For me job hunting is such a challenge and I love challenges..I dont leave anything to chances. I've got a pretty nice credentials since I graduated from a prestigious university in Manila (FYI- it does count in the Philippines) plus passing the Medical Technology Board exam is a major +++. After the board examination I decided that I dont want to practice my profession since I cant stomach the very low wage, since I've got medical background I thought I can easily got a job from Pharmaceutical companies which I think up to now is a prestige.. and I did!

I applied with multinational companies.. ABBOTT, GLAXOSMITHKLINE, PFIZER and the like. I just take my chances.. by the way theres nothing to loose right? I want to work in a multinational company as a start but I did'nt expect to be hired by a company which are on top 5 list Pharma company in the world.. I had my chance when I passed the veryyyy strict screening from the HR people of ASTRAZENECA . By the way its a nationwide application and they went to 3 cities in the Philippines just to look for the right candidates- they went to Baguio, Cebu and of course in Manila. Since the company is on the top 5 pharma company worldwide and they got the nicest package on the entire industry... applicants piled up, later on the managers told us that we are very lucky since we were picked from around 800 applicants nationwide.. Among the 800 applicants, only 65 were chosen and only 35 passed the training... and of course including me.. as a newly grad.. it was like I'm on top of the world already.

Life is Good! Aim HIGH.. the universe will ONLY give you what you think what you deserves.. if I've choosen to work in a hospital as a med.tech.. then probably I'm still back home suffering like everybody else. I'm here abroad working also in a top company here because I have choosen it.

I'm not bragging or something... but what Im trying to say is.. even I have that edge.. I still do my homework.. which means, I made my resume attractive(by the way I bought a special paper only for my resume- I use cream or off- white and is thicker than the ordinary paper, always make yourself stand among the rest) Make sure there's no crease or dirt or whatever unpleasant thing on your resume thats the first rule. You can check online some popular resume formats. Bring extra that might be of help. Since I targeted huge and multinational companies in the Philippines, I made my self look very presentable and professional.. which means I go to the interview wearing longsleves, tie and everything(looking handome and gorgeous hehe!) I usually get annoyed when somebody goes to the interview just wearing a plain polo and pants and they expect they will be hired? unless you're applying for a call center job which is not a big deal.

The moment you enter that door, all eyes are on you, your every move is measured. It will be beneficial if you will research the company's background. And during the interview- make your self comfortable as possible(dont show you're afraid-they cant hear your heart thump by the way) Hope I did inspire you with my blahblah.. hehe! feedbacks are most welcome.

Here's the article

10 Things that Scream, "Don't Hire Me!"

You just don't get it. You've applied to numerous jobs, been to countless interviews and made several new contacts in your network -- yet here you are -- still sitting on the unemployment list. What gives?

Well ... have you ever stopped to consider that what gives might in fact be ... you?
It's a hard concept that most job seekers have trouble wrapping their heads around, but applicants frequently -- inadvertently -- raise red flags to hiring managers that immediately scream, "Don't hire me!" But, it might not be entirely your fault.

"Most companies don't give direct feedback about areas people are weak in while they are employed. They are enabling poor performance and lack of accountability," says Tom Gimbel, president and CEO of The LaSalle Network, an executive recruiting firm in Chicago. "The same mentality exists when people interview. They feel they did 'great' on the interview and never look at themselves for if they feel that the interviewer was looking for something different."
Not sure if you're unknowingly blowing your chances at scoring your dream job? Here are 10 red flags to be wary of during your next job hunt:

Red flag No. 1: You don't have any contact information on your résumé

When you're crafting your résumé, you should focus on highlighting relevant skills and accomplishments that are in line with the position for which you are applying. But what good is an impressive résumé if hiring managers have no way to get in touch with its owner? If they can't find you, they can't hire you. Always provide a home address, phone number or e-mail address so employers can get in touch with you easily.

Red flag No. 2: You have long gaps between jobs on your résumé

Even if your long departure from the work force is valid, extended lapses of unemployment might say to an employer, "Why weren't you wanted by anyone?" Gimbel says. Anytime you have more than a three-month gap of idleness on your résumé, legitimate or otherwise, be prepared to explain yourself.

Red flag No. 3: You aren't prepared for the interview

There are many ways to be unprepared for an interview: You haven't researched the company, you don't have any questions prepared, you didn't bring a copy of your résumé, etc. Plain and simple, do your homework before an interview. Explore the company online, prepare answers to questions and have someone give you a mock interview. The more prepared you are, the more employers will take you seriously.

Red flag No. 4: You didn't provide any references

By omitting references in your application, employers could infer that you don't know anyone who has any positive things to say about you -- when in fact, you just forgot to provide them with people who can vouch for you. No references also shows employers that you aren't prepared for people to call them, Gimbel says. Always make sure the hiring manager has at least one person to contact who can speak on your behalf.

Red flag No. 5: You only have negative things to say about previous employment

We know how tempting it is to want to tell anyone who will listen how much of a (insert expletive word here) your old boss was -- but a hiring manager for a coveted job is not that person.
There are hundreds of ways to turn negative things about an old job into positives. Thought your last job was a dead end? Spin it by saying, "I felt I had gone as far as I could go in that position. I'm looking for something with more opportunity for advancement." Couldn't get along with your co-workers? "I really need to work in an environment where I feel like I'm part of a team and my last position didn't allow for that kind of atmosphere."

Red flag No. 6: You've held seven different jobs -- in the past six months

Job hopping is a new trend in the working world. Workers are no longer staying in a job for 10-20 years; they stay for a couple and move on to the next one. While such a tactic can further your career, switching jobs too often will raise a prospective employer's antenna. Too many jobs in too little time tells employers that either you can't hold a job or you have no loyalty, Gimbel says. Pick and choose the jobs you include on your résumé or prepare to explain yourself.

Red flag No. 7: You give inconsistent answers in your interview

One tactic hiring managers use during the hiring process is to ask you the same question in several different ways. This is mostly to ensure that you're genuine with your answers and not just telling an employer what he or she wants to hear. Keep your responses sincere throughout the entire process and you should be good to go.

Red flag No. 8: You lack flexibility

Most people know what they want in a job as far as benefits, compensation, time-off, etc. If you're unable to be flexible with some of your (unrealistic?) expectations, however, you're going to have a difficult time finding a job. Have a bottom line in terms of what you want before you start the hiring process and be willing to bend a bit if necessary.

Red flag No. 9: Your application was, in a word -- lazy

Only doing the bare minimum of what's asked of you won't get very far -- in life or in your job search. Applying to jobs with the same résumé and the same cover letter (or none at all) is pure laziness. And as Gimbel points out, if you won't spend extra time on yourself and your application materials, you sure as heck won't do it for a client.

Red flag No. 10: You lack objective or ambition

If you have no long-term goals, then you really have no short-term goals either, Gimbel says. "Long-term goals may change, however you need to have some concept of where you want to go." Know where you want to go and how you plan to get there. Otherwise you seem unfocused and unmotivated, which are two big no-no's for an applicant.

Jobseekers GOODLUCK!

I am a Spontaneous Idealist

My personality type: the spontaneous idealist. Take the free iPersonic personality test!

Spontaneous Idealist (SI)
(Just visiting? Take the free personality test and determine your Ipersonic type)
LINK: http://www.ipersonic.com/type/SI.html

Spontaneous Idealists are creative, lively and open-minded persons. They are humorous and dispose of a contagious zest for life. Their enthusiasm and sparkling energy inspires others and sweeps them along. They enjoy being together with other people and often have an uncanny intuition for their motivations and potential. Spontaneous Idealists are masters of communication and very amusing and gifted entertainers. Fun and variety are guaranteed when they are around. However, they are sometimes somewhat too impulsive in dealing with others and can hurt people without really meaning to do so, due to their direct and sometimes critical nature.

This personality type is a keen and alert observer; they miss nothing which is going on around them. In extreme cases, they tend to be oversensitive and exaggeratedly alert and are inwardly always ready to jump. Life for them is an exciting drama full of emotionality. However, they quickly become bored when things repeat themselves and too much detailed work and care is required. Their creativity, their imaginativeness and their originality become most noticeable when developing new projects and ideas - they then leave the meticulous implementation of the whole to others. On the whole, Spontaneous Idealists attach great value to their inner and outward independence and do not like accepting a subordinate role. They therefore have problems with hierarchies and authorities.

If you have a Spontaneous Idealist as your friend, you will never be bored; with them, you can enjoy life to the full and celebrate the best parties. At the same time, they are warm, sensitive, attentive and always willing to help. If Spontaneous Idealists have just fallen in love, the sky is full of violins and their new partners are showered with attention and affection. This type then bubbles over with charm, tenderness and imagination. But, unfortunately, it soon becomes boring for them once the novelty has worn off. Boring everyday life in a partnership is not for them so that many Spontaneous Idealists slip from one affair into another. However, should the partner manage to keep their curiosity alive and not let routine and familiarity gain the upper hand, Spontaneous Idealists can be inspiring and loving partners.

Adjectives which describe your type
spontaneous, enthusiastic, idealistic, extroverted, theoretical, emotional, relaxed, friendly, optimistic, charming, helpful, independent, individualistic, creative, dynamic, lively, humorous, full of zest for life, imaginative, changeable, adaptable, loyal, sensitive, inspiring, sociable, communicative, erratic, curious, open, vulnerable

These subjects could interest you

CONSUMERS WATCH OUT

I received a forwarded email from an old friend and was curious about the title so I opened it (I usually dont open forwarded emails coz they're waste of time) Its about some popular companies using cheap detergent to boost foaming on shampoos, soaps and body wash. I intentionally deleted the brands which are included in the email.. I dont want to be sued haha! anyway message me if you wanna know..

I've actually heard it several years ago when I was still in college but I did'nt pay particular attention on it, I remember one time I was in Watson and buying some stuffs, I was looking for a particular brand of shampoo and I overheard a very proper old woman lecturing on her daughter about to check first the ingredients of some products.. specially the shampoo (that time I thought its kinda weird or something) so for some time I eavesdropped on her lectures, she diligently examined the ingridients of a very popular brand of shampoo after sometime she found what she's looking for the SLS. After the mother and daughter left and nowhere in sight.. I grabbed the shampoo and curiously check whats on it. Yep the SLS on the list and for sometime I didnt use the product.

Unlike the old mother that I've encounter most of us are too busy and dont have the time to check whatever ingredients there is on our everyday grooming products.. but hey its free and it will cost only a fraction of your time, besides mother's knows best right? hehe! Here it goes..

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS)

Some companies use a chemical called SLS which is actually a floor cleaner. They are used so as to produce more foam. Imagine what a floor cleaner can do to you hair and scalp. It will damage the very roots of your scalp. Check out for SLS in toothpaste too!!! Use the ones which are free from this extremely harmful chemical.

This inexpensive detergent is commonly used in cosmetic cleansers, hair shampoos, bath and shower gels, bubble baths, etc. - It is probably the most dangerous ingredient used in skin and hair-care products. In the cleaning industry SLS is used in garage floor cleaners, engine degreasers, car-wash soaps, etc. It is very corrosive and readily attacks greasy surfaces.
Sodium lauryl sulfate is used throughout the world for clinical testing as a primary skin irritant. Laboratories use it to irritate skin on test animals and humans so that they may then test healing agents to see how effective they are on the irritated skin.

A study at the University of Georgia Medical College, indicated that SLS penetrated into the eyes as well as brain, heart, liver, etc., and showed long-term retention in the tissues. The study also indicated that SLS penetrated young children's eyes and prevented them from developing properly and caused cataracts to develop in adults.

May cause hair loss by attacking the follicle. Classified as a drug in bubble baths because it eats away skin protection and causes rashes and infection to occur.

SLS Is potentially harmful to skin and hair. Cleans by corrosion. Dries skin by stripping the protective lipids from the surface so it can't effectively regulate moisture.

Another extremely serious problem is the connection of SLS with nitrate contamination. SLS reacts with many types of ingredients used in skin products and forms nitrosomines (nitrates). Nitrates are potential cancer-causing carcinogenics.

Because of the alarming penetrating power of SLS, large amounts of these known carcinogens are absorbed through the skin into the body. A variation of SLS is SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE (Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate- SLES). It exhibits many of the same characteristics and is a higher-foaming variation of SLS.

SAMSUNG i900 OMNIA

I badly need this phone!

Its quite big though.. Actually its the same size as the Iphone which I hate since its so huge.. Actually before the Iphone hits the stores, I really wanted it but when I saw it and got a chance of manipulating it.. I was dissapointed really!

But I need to check this one first before I decide maybe it's lighter. I dont like bulky gadgets coz its quite heavy on the pocket.. second I dont want to look like a shoplifter with a huge bulk on my jeans.

By the way, I will not buy Sony Ericsson phone again.. ever! Probably Im used to nokia's easy navigation features thats why I was completely disappointed with my Sony Ericsson P1i so I gave it away. Also, Im getting tired of the old Nokia phones, their phones are getting boring. So I have to check Samsung.. hopefully it will fit on my budget hehe!

Since I lost my Nokia phone sevaral weeks ago, I only got my old nokia 5300 which I think needed to be replace as soon as possible.. Really!
Its not yet available though.
To check mobile phone updates, news etc.
