My Beta Splendens

Bought these two gorgeous fish last week.. they're cool and they're such a fantastic creatures. I choose the iridescent blue and the other one is a fiery red beta, by the way they come in different colors but I choose these two since they are of different contrast. The thing though is... you cannot put them together in one tank.. they will fight to the death. However, I made a solution regarding that problem, I put them together in one tank but I put a plastic divider between them. Its really nice watching them swim and taunt each other. I think they are little vain creatures and they are ultimate show-off, they also swim very gracefully but please dont be fooled by their elegance.. they are really mean and feisty! Usually they will follow each others moves and they will open their gills and grin at each other.. both looking for troubles!

The red one is much tamer, he ignored the bullying of the war freak blue beta. I like this one since he really loves posing for the camera.. he loves public attention really!

The blue beta.. oh he's such a trouble! he always taunt and bully the red beta, he open his gills and mouth so huge.. it really scares the hell outa the red beta!

More pics coming..

The shy.. blue beta!

New Project

I'm cooking a new project right now... and it makes me crazy! I want to make a slideshow / music video.. just like what everybody post on youtube. I'm not the freaky nerdy computer wiz type and... Oh God! I did'nt imagine its quite difficult.. well, probably for an amateur like me. I already registered online on a site with free slideshow creator.. I already have a music in mind and collected vast photos from the web.. I have everything actually.. but the thing is... its not easy as I thought it would be. Somebody help help! Well, at least it would pre occupy me for a couple of weeks since I wont give up. Actually got lots of projects... GIMP, Photoshop etc. but I am more damn curious on this video making thing.. wish me luck guys!

Anyway.. Happy Weekend!

OVER YOU- DAUGHTRY

BEST ROCK BAND! BEST ALBUM EVER!

Over you

Now that it's all said and done,
I can't believe you were the one
To build me up and tear me down,
Like an old abandoned house.
What you said when you left
Just left me cold and out of breath.
I fell too far, was in way too deep.
Guess I let you get the best of me.

Well, I never saw it coming.
I should've started running
A long, long time ago.
And I never thought I'd doubt you,
I'm better off without you
More than you, more than you know.
I'm slowly getting closure.
I guess it's really over.
I'm finally getting better.
And now I'm picking up the pieces.
I'm spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together.
'Cause the day I thought I'd never get through,
I got over you.

You took a hammer to these walls,
Dragged the memories down the hall,
Packed your bags and walked away.
There was nothing I could say.
And when you slammed the front door shut,
A lot of others opened up,
So did my eyes so I could see
That you never were the best for me.

Well, I never saw it coming.
I should've started running
A long, long time ago.
And I never thought I'd doubt you,
I'm better off without you
More than you, more than you know.
I'm slowly getting closure.
I guess it's really over.
I'm finally getting better.
And now I'm picking up the pieces.
I'm spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together.
'Cause the day I thought I'd never get through,
I got over you.

Well, I never saw it coming.*
I should've started running
A long, long time ago.
And I never thought I'd doubt you,
I'm better off without you
More than you, more than you know.

Well, I never saw it coming.
I should've started running
A long, long time ago.
And I never thought I'd doubt you,
I'm better off without you
More than you, more than you know.
I'm slowly getting closure.
I guess it's really over.
I'm finally getting better.
And now I'm picking up the pieces.
I'm spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together.
Well I'm putting my heart back together,
'Cause I got over you.
Well I got over you.
I got over you.
'Cause the day I thought I'd never get through,
I got over you.

Poem from a friend

I want to extend my condolences to the people of Kuwait on the death of their beloved Emir Shiekh Saad Abdullah Al- Sabah.

All of kuwait today are in mourning and all establishmesnts, offices, malls and government agencies are all close including our office. It means I'm just at home sleeping.. nope! quite not!
I cleaned my room, washed my clothes... mountain of them hehe! cook and sleep around 4pm, woke up around 6pm and I went to Sultan Center for my grocery.. thanks they're open!

I open my email and received a nice poem from a friend, It's a nice poem but its quite saintly if you know what I mean haha! Well, if all the people around the world practice just even half of the deeds in this poems.. then our world will be a lot more different. Peace Men!

Dunno the title

Out of everything I have ever done,
may one act of kindness
be enough light for someone else
bewildered in misery.

May I be medicine for the sick
and a balm for all who come
to be healed. In a time of famine,
may I forget my thirst and hunger
and offer all my food and drink.

May I be endless treasure
to the poor, within reach
whenever I am needed.
I do not mock or hate
those who mock or hate me;
may they always find what they seek,
may it deliver them to virtue.

May all who insult me awake
to the power and failure of words.
May I be protector
for those who are besieged,
a guide for all who travel
and are lost, a ship for all
who wish to cross water.

May I be an island for the shipwrecked
and a bonfire in the dark,
may I be a bed for the weary,
a nurse for the helpless and wounded.

May I be a jewel so magical
it fulfills all dreams, a charm
so powerful I will spread
a forest of plenty over the desolate.

Like space and all the elements
it holds, may I be fullness
in the empty, a scaffold
to support the living. Until I pass away
from this earth of sorrow,
may I guide them to the peace
that shines through the turmoil
of boundless space.

A blind man, finds a diamond in refuse;
such a man was I. Today my life
has borne fruit: may this moment be
tonic, ambrosia, a bridge
and a great sun. I invite the world
to be my guest, I wait
with my heart full of joy
for all who pass by

DSLR Camera overview

One of my hobbies is photography and eversince I received a Kodak camera as a gift when I was 13.. never stop taking pics since then. When I got hold of my first camphone during college, its more of a camera than a phone, I remember I have to buy expensive memory card just to save my pics, then I got digicam but camphone is very handy and it can fit on my jeans. Right now, I have a panasonic digicam I bought last year.. the problem is i DUNNO how to use it since I dont have the patience reading the bulky manual. I think I use it outside only 2 or 3 times since I bought it 6 months ago.. poor digicam! Well since Im having my vacation this coming July, I'll just give the old digicam to my nephews.. probably they can get a use out of it :)

Right now I am planning to buy a DSLR Camera (Digital-Single Lens Reflex) to learn professional photography. I researched the web for products and come across with the DSLR overview for beginners. Honestly, I have problem with manuals and I think they're the most boring things around. Actually, I almost sell my first Sony Ericsson, the P1i since I cant use it properly... love NOKIA since you can navigate easily even the newest model around. I think life is already complicated and I dont need a gadget which is more complicated than my life.. Well, I decided not to sell my P1i coz the dealer will just buy it half the price since most of the customers dont buy second hand phone here. Its a good phone by the way, but not applicable for first time Sony Ericson user, stick with Nokia if I were you.

Back to DSLR.. well I think I can be patient with this one.. considering its price.. then I have to be patient right? :) Still checking the net for more details. By the way July is still far, I have more time to think whats best for me. (Reading this one feels like reading a microscope manual in college lab some several years ago)

DSLR Camera overview

The DSLR Camera Body:

Canon Digital Rebel XTi 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens

A DSLR Camera Body has what's called a "Reflex Mirror" (or flip-up mirror). This mirror sits between the lens and Sensor (CCD or CMOS). This mirror redirects the image up and through a pentaprism to the viewfinder while you're setting up the shot. Once you take the picture, the mirror flips out of the way, opens up the shutter and exposes the sensor to the image coming through the lens. Then the mirror moves back into place. All this happens very fast. There are many features that control how the camera takes the photograph. They are (but not limited to) white balance, focusing points, macro, storage, picture quality and ISO. Some cameras even have the ability to take infrared photos as well. This can create some dramatic effects and record images that are not visible to the human eye.

Sensors and Image Processors
The Sensor is as important as the lens as it's the part of the camera that records the image. They come in different sizes and types depending on the camera you buy. The sensor controls the amount of noise the image has with the ISO settings along with the dynamic range which is the shadows, highlights, colors and sharpness. There are two types of sensors. CCD (Charge-coupled Device) and CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor). In today's cameras, the types don't differ in quality much anymore. Allthough, different manufactures do play a large part in their quality. Most DSLR cameras use APS-size sensors which are smaller than 35mm film frame. There is some simple math needed to understand this that relates to focal-length, magnification and lens conversion factors. For example, on a Nikon D200which has an APS-size sensor and a focal-length multiplier of 1.5x, a 50mm lens captures the angle of view that a 75mm lens would on 35mm film (50mm x 1.5 = 75mm). So on this camera body, a 50mm lens acts like a 75mm lens, a 28mm lens acts like a 42mm, a 200mm acts like a 300mm and so on. This is because the APS-size sensor is smaller than 35mm film. If these lenses were put on a Nikon 35mm camera body, they would act as they are stated on the lens. Sport and wildlife photographers like this but landscape and architecture shooters can't get lenses wide enough for their subjects. If this concerns you, then you may want to spend the big bucks and purchase a camera that has a full frame sensor (sensor is the size of 35mm film) such as the Canon EOS 5D.

The DSLR Camera Lens:

The lens is a very complex device consisting of many different functions: Zoom, Focus, Aperture and sometimes Vibration Reduction (VR). As I said earlier, one of the main advantages of having a DSLR camera is the ability to change the lens on the fly. If you are at the local arboretum and are photographing flowers and suddenly see wild animals or birds far away, you can switch lenses from your macro lens to a telephoto lens in seconds and zoom in to get the shot you want. The lens is where the Aperture and Focus is performed. This camera can be set to many different settings depending on what you want to control. They are Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, Manual or Automatic. These settings allow you to change the speed of the shot (shutter speed), the amount of light allowed in along with the focal length and depth of field. Don't worry! Keep reading as I will cover this later. When purchasing your lens, make sure you spend the extra dough and buy the higher end lens with the lens elements coated to correct for chromatic aberration. This is to correct for a defect in the glass that if the lens does not have it can cause reduced sharpness and cause color fringing along high contrast edges. So when purchasing a lens, look for the manufacture codes on the lens. Canon's code is called UD, Nikon and Olympus' code is ED, Sigma uses the code APO and Tamron used LD. It's worth the extra expense especially if you're purchasing a telephoto lens as it is more noticeably when zoomed in.

Lens Features and Functions:

Aperture:
The Aperture is the lens opening that regulates the amount of light that passes through the lens to the Sensor. The Aperture size is measured in f-numbers (or F-Stop). The lower the f-Stop, the larger the aperture opening is and effectively lets in more light. The larger the f-number, the smaller the opening and less light is passed to the CCD Sensor. The aperture setting not only controls the amount of light, it also controls what is called the Depth of Field which is the what is in focus.

Focusing:
Many DSLR Cameras lens focusing systems use what's called phase detection auto focus. This system speeds up focus process and results in fast focusing. This reduces the focus searching that is typically found in Digicams (point and shoot). Many professional photographers rarely use the auto focus feature when they are in the field. Almost all DSLR cameras today come with auto focus. You can purchase manual focus lenses along with using some older lenses which allows you to control all the aspects of the lens manually

Shutter Speed:
Shutter speed is the amount of time the shutter is held open. It is used to control the ability to stop action (fast) or to blur if wanted (slow). It is scaled in fractions of a second. A shutter speed of 1/1000 is one thousands of a second and is very fast and 1/64 shutter speed is one sixty fourths of a second and is is slower. The shutter speed is also one of the ways to regulate the amount of light that is allowed through to the sensor. Both the aperture and the shutter can control the effective light hitting the sensor but in different ways. The aperture controls it by the size of the opening and the shutter controls it by the time it is open. Each one has a different effect and purpose. The shutter speed only controls how much time the camera has to expose the sensor to available light. The aperture not only controls the amount of light, it also controls the depth of field (focusing depth). The faster the shutter, the lower the aperture number you need. So if you have a fast shutter speed, you need more light controlled by the aperture. This causes the depth of field to be smaller because the aperture opening will be larger. If you use a slow shutter speed, you can have a higher aperture (smaller hole) which will allow a larger depth of field.

Focal Length and Angle of View:
The focal length is the distance measured in millimeters (mm) of the lens. Normal focal length lenses without zoom or wide angle is usually 50mm - 55mm. A telephoto lens has a zoom of 55mm through 500mm and so on. A typical wide angle lens focal lens is 18mm - 35mm. Focal length is usually displayed on the lens and typically defines the lens. The aperture is also displayed on the lens as seen on the right. So if you buy a lens that has a focal length of 18mm - 135mm it will work for wide angle of 18mm to a zoom of 135mm. This determines the lens angle of view and how much the subject will be magnified depending on where the subject is positioned. Another Please note that camera sensor sizes are different in size. Digicams have typically smaller sensors so their focal length will be smaller like 5.8 - 24mm. This would be similar to a 28 - 105mm of a DSLR camera. So the same focal lengths may be expressed using different numeric values depending on the sensor size.

Depth of Field:
The depth of field is basically what you would like to have in focus and what you don't. That said, let's say you wanted to photograph a flower with a butterfly on it but you don't want the truck in the parking lot way behind the flower to be in focus. Well, then you would set a Small F-Stop (large aperture opening) which gives you a shallow depth of field and focus on the flower. The truck would be way out of focus and hopefully unrecognizable. Now, when you have a small F-Stop, you allow more light into the camera so you can (and will need) to use a faster shutter speed. The larger the F-Stop (small aperture opening), the greater depth of field you get. For Example, if you wanted to photograph a family member standing on a dock at the lake and wanted to also have the sunset in focus behind him or her, you would want to have a larger F-Stop (a small aperture) to give you a large depth of field from the subject to infinity. The small aperture would also limit the amount of light coming in so you would also want to force a flash to light up your family member.

Telephoto (Zoom) and Prime Lenses:
A Prime lens is a fixed mm lens that does not zoom like a telephoto lens does. Prime lenses usually have higher quality, less moving parts and it's harder for dust to impregnate the inside of the lens. Telephoto lenses usually change sizes when zooming in and out. This size change has to allow for air to flow in and out of the lens causing small particles of dust inside the lens. If you can afford to carry many lenses (and have the money) then purchase prime lenses. Most of us don't want to carry around all those lenses so try and purchase a high quality zoom lens for every day use. Nikon sells a 28mm - 200mm lens that is fairly small and performs very well. Many amateur photographers usually purchase two lenses. One for wide angle to a small zoom (18mm - 70mm) and then one that picks up where the first left off and goes to 200mm - 300mm. The benefit of a zoom lens is that you can shoot a subject from far away to close up with just a change in zoom. When you buy a zoom lens, make sure you consider it's speed. Yes, I said speed. A good zoom lens is large and has a low f-stop (large Aperture). This is to allow as much light through the camera as possible. This will allow you to use a fast enough shutter to get the shot you want when zoomed all the way in. This speed is defined on the lens by F4, F5.6 but the larger the number, the smaller the aperture is so less light gets in. This will cause you to slow down your shutter speed.

Searched via Amazon and found this one.. I think I like it now!

APOLOGIZE- One Republic feat Timbaland

I’m holding on your rope
Got me ten feet off the ground
And I’m hearing what you say
But I just can’t make a sound
You tell me that you need me
Then you go and cut me down But wait...
You tell me that you’re sorry
Didn’t think I’d turn around and say..

That it’s too late to apologize, it’s too late
I said it’s too late to apologize, it’s too late
I’d take another chance, take a fall, take a shot for you
And I need you like a heart needs a beat (But that's nothing new)
Yeah yeah

I loved you with a fire red, now it’s turning blue
And you say Sorry like the angel heaven let me think was you
But I’m afraid It’s too late to apologize,
it’s too late I said it’s too late to apologize, i
t’s too late Woahooo woah
It’s too late to apologize, it’s too late
I said it’s too late to apologize, it’s too late
I said it’s too late to apologize,
yeah yeah I said it’s too late to apologize,
yeah I’m holding on your rope
Got me ten feet off the ground...

Super Hippo- Amazing animal behaviour

Saw this youtube vid from another blog and I wanna share it here. The vid got almost 300,000 hits and its amazing.

The young impala tries to cross the water unsuspecting of danger, then the hungry croc grabs him from below. For a minutes, the helpless impala struggled to free himself but it doesnt work..

...then came the super hippo.. he scare the croc away and help the impala to get out of the water. When the impala was already far from the demon croc, what's amazing is that the super hippo walk toward him and as if comforting the injured impala.. nonetheless, the impala died from his injuries. The story is tragic and amazing at the same time. The two animals are from different species but still the hippo showed sympathy, compassion and a pair of helping hand to the helpless impala.

Actually its a lesson to us people to be more sympathetic, compassionate and the willingness to give a helping hands to those dire in needs. Shame to those people who thinks only for themselves (read my post about the megalomaniac), Shame to the corrupt politicians who grabs money from the people, Shame to the racist! If the animals can do it then we can.. Do a great deed today.. help save a life!

Hail to the brave and heroic hippo!

MEGALOMANIAC

We all wear different faces in every situations.. we can be ourselves when we're together with our family, we can be crazy and spontaneous when we're with our best buddies and friends, we can be formal when we're with our boss and so on.. What I'm trying to say here is that MOST people act what are in the norms and what is accepted by the society.

Most of the people I know are of course normal..........

Then, I met a person who is completely different than the rest... he think he is alone and he is the master of himself.. Ignorant fool! He thinks he always the best and he wont bow to anybody.. Foolest of the fools!

He guised himself with his moral hypocrisy and his personal beliefs..(which sucks by the way) also lame and pathetic! Actually I never met a person who have so much pretentions and hypocrisies. He is the most PATHETIC person I've ever known.. Really!

Everybody.. dont like this person (that's a fact) he's self absorbed and self centered.

He's an abomination.. a disgrace to humanity!

A master of HYPOCRISY and PRETENTIONS..

Yesterday I was seething in anger as I read his SMS..
It's about some disputes..

I am deeply ashamed to be affiliated by him in any other way..

I am so angry but still I pity him since he need immediate Psychological help..

I'm in a Medical field and I've got some units in psychology.. and I guess he badly needs professional help. Poor guy!

I never thought that some person can be that bad.. much worst he guised himself with being religious(Santong Kabayo) and a self proclaimed perfectionist... what a very disturbed person indeed!

....................He's a megalomaniac.

MEGALOMANIAC

Symptoms

1)Delusion of Grandeur- term "delusions of grandeur" to refer to a person who is in over his head, or who thinks exaggerates the amount of power and importance that he has.

-a term familiar to psychological discourse. They are known as the manifestations of a psychopathological condition in which a person has delusional fantasies of power, wealth, and omnipotence, thus the term delusions of grandeur.

2) Superiority complex- refers to a subconscious neurotic mechanism of compensation developed by the individual as a result of feelings of inferiority. The feelings of inferiority in this specific complex are often brought on by real or perceived social rejection.

-Behaviors related to this mechanism may include an exaggeratedly positive opinion of one’s worth and abilities, unrealistically high expectations in goals and achievements for oneself and others, the persistent attempt to correct others regardless of whether they are factually correct or not, vanity, extravagant style in dressing (with intent of drawing attention), excessive need for competition, pride, sentimentalism and affected exaltation, snobbishness, a tendency to discredit other’s opinions, forcefulness aimed at dominating those considered as weaker or less important, credulity, and others.

Social aloofness, daydreaming and isolation could also be associated to the Superiority Complex, as a way to evade the fear of failure related to the feelings of inadequacy to face the real world.

3)Antisocial personality disorder (APD) is a mental disorder defined by the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual "The essential feature for the diagnosis is a pervasive pattern of disregard for, and violation of, the rights of others that begins in childhood or early adolescence and continues into adulthood. Deceit and manipulation are considered essential features of the disorder. (Now, you know why he dont come to any of the parties)

Other symptoms

-A sense of extreme entitlement.. Do I need to expain?

-Inability to make or keep friends (Given na to grabe!)

-Appearing as tough-minded or unemotional

-Taking advantage of others ( eto sobra given to)

-Believing that they are better than others ( Super! )

A very good example of Megalomanic person are.. Adolf Hitler.. Pol Pot and other mass murderer.. scary!

There you go.... Friends do I need to say more? I think we got some mental patient on the loose..

So watch out! Please pass to all our friends for their safety..
